Day 11 – Coast to Coast

Today the Tranzalpine Railway brought us from Christchurch, on the east coast, to Greymouth, on the west coast of the south island. As we started, the trip was misty and cloudy, but as we climbed elevation across the Canterbury plain, the clouds cleared to a bright, sunny day. We then drove to our night’s beachside accommodation in Hokitika overlooking the Tasmanian Sea.
