Day 12 – Franz Josef Glacier

Heli-hiking today! This morning we left from Hokitika to drive to the Franz-Josef Glacier all along the western coast. Then went in a helicopter to get onto the glacier where we hiked on the ice through crevices and ice field. From there we drove through the Haast Pass, continuing to Lake Hawea which is more inland where we are staying this evening.
